Stephen fell in love with CrossFit in 2009 when a teammate from his soccer team at Biola University introduced him to a classic CrossFit workout called "Fran". Having been a surfer since childhood and a college soccer player he was shocked by how badly a simple 10 minute workout kicked his butt. He then learned many CrossFitters do this workout in under 3 minutes. Stephen was humbled and also hooked by his CrossFit experience.
Stephen has immersed himself in training and coaching. As owner and Head Trainer at Left Coast CrossFit he gets the chance to daily improve other lives the way CrossFit has improved his. What he loves most about coaching is the chance to see people discover their hidden athleticism and realize they are much stronger, both physically and mentally, than they thought. He loves the daily opportunity to be involved in all the small victories that his athletes achieve, whether it's a first unassisted pull-up or looking better than they did before they had kids.
Stephen has his CrossFit Level 1 Certificate. He has attended the CrossFit Coaches Prep Course as well as the Advanced Olympic Weightlifting Seminar at Catalyst Fitness with Greg Everett and Danny Camargo.
Josh started doing CrossFit in his garage when he moved to a small town in the Central Valley. There was no 24 hour fitness (where he happened to be a life long member at), or ocean to surf in. CrossFit hooked him in immediately. Soon after, he started training the local boys from his youth group that he lead and ended up opening CrossFit Visalia in that very same garage. CrossFit Visalia quickly grew out of that garage and through two other locations. It was an amazing learning experience for Josh and he wouldn't trade it for anything. 5 years later Josh sold most of his gym to his coaches so he could move back to where he and his wife had grown up.
As a life-long athlete and gym goer, Josh was shocked at how CrossFit was the only thing that truly taught him to move well with proper mechanics. Not only that, but he has noticed that even now as a father of 4 and in his forties, without question, he is in the best shape of his life. Things only keep getting better.
Josh came on board with LCCF as co-owner, marketing director and coach in January of 2016 because he wanted to be a part of a place that shared his same heart in regards to CrossFit. At LCCF we serve people and help better their health and fitness. He could not be more excited about being on board with the Left Coast Community.
Josh has his CrossFit L1 and L2 certificate and his USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach Certificate. He has attended the CrossFit Mobility, CrossFit Gymnastics, CrossFit Endurance Running and CrossFit Kids, as well as the Dianne Fu and Alexander method SMR clinics.
